Orientation Assistants
vs.
Parent Ambassadors
Orientation Assistants
The Orientation Assistants are responsible for making sure that freshmen move-in goes as quickly and as smoothly as possible. They are the first people the freshmen meet at Hopkins and they serve as a first impression of our school and the student body for the new student as well as their parents. The commitment is usually no more than 3-4 hours per day and, depending upon your work assignment, you may be directing or unloading cars, helping freshmen get to where they need to go, assisting the freshmen with moving into their dorms, as well as other very important responsibilities. Orientation Assistants are absolutely necessary for making freshmen move in as successful and low-stress as possible, and we reward and thank you for you hard work by allowing you to move into your dorms early and giving you free stuff and food. You'll have fun and you'll get to meet all the freshmen before anyone else.
Parent Ambassador
A Parent Ambassador is a volunteer whose responsibility is specifically to greet and answer questions from parents of the Class of 2012. Requirements of PAs include moving in on Tuesday, August 26th, attending one day of training, and attending the Parent Receptions on both move-in days (Friday, August 29th and Saturday, August 30th) as well as the Parents Assembly and Interest Sessions on Sunday August 31st. PAs must be friendly and approachable, as they will be meeting and talking to many parents during move-in weekend. All PAs will receive a free Orientation 2008 t-shirt and free food!
